This noble land was trampled on by the horses of Alexander the Great's army, the Arab conquerors under the command of Kuteiba ibn Muslim, and the Mongol invader Genghis Khan reduced the city to ashes. There were so many internal Khan wars here that their numbers can only be calculated by a meticulous historian, addicted to his work.
