Tashkent TV Tower & observation deck
The Tashkent TV Tower is visible from almost any part of the capital. And this is hardly surprising — the tower is the tallest structure in Uzbekistan and the second tallest in Central Asia. Imagine a 125-storey building standing before you. That is the "height" of the Tashkent TV Tower.
And it offers much more than just a view from the outside. Here is what a dizzying experience the Tashkent TV Tower can offer you:
-
Admire the capital of Uzbekistan from a bird's eye view — 100 metres above the ground. Take one of three high-speed Schindler lifts to the circular observation deck. The lifts will whisk you up in just 25 seconds, and all of Tashkent will spread out before you like the palm of your hand.
-
Dine in a restaurant. Choose between the red hall of the Koinot restaurant at 104 metres with European cuisine, or the blue hall at 98 metres with European dishes. In both halls the platform rotates and completes a full turn in one hour. You will be able not only to enjoy a delicious meal, but also to admire the panoramic view of the city.
-
Arrange a photo session. Start right in the foyer — it is decorated with unique mosaic panels in Florentine and Roman style. The author of the panels is master A. Bukharbayev.
Of course, the primary purpose of the Tashkent TV Tower is radio and television broadcasting. The broadcasting centre has been operating since 1985, when the tower was put into service. Construction of the structure took 6 years, beginning in 1978. The project was developed by several architects — N. Terziyeva-Tsarukova, Yu. Semashko, and engineers M. Musheyeva and E. Morozova. They studied the seismic activity characteristics of Uzbekistan, so the tower is capable of withstanding an earthquake of up to 9 points on the Richter scale. The lattice frame and three cone-shaped supports ensure stability.
At the foot of the TV Tower are the famous Plov Centre, the Tashkent water park and the Tashkentland amusement park.
